LGBTQIA+ Youth and the School-to-Prison Pipeline
Sonny Partola, a first-year PhD student in the Department of Education, Culture, and Society, presented at the Pride, Not Prejudice Conference, a conference for Utah educators, students, and caregivers. Sonny’s presentation was entitled, LGBTQ+ Youth and the School-to-Prison Pipeline. You can watch the presentation for free here. Presenting at the conference was part of Sonny’s work in Dr. Alvarez Gutiérrez’s ECS 6820/7820: Juvenile (IN)Justice Education course and exemplifies the way in which we prepare our students to engage the community, to tackle issues that shape and inform our educational systems, and to improve the field of education. Congratulations, Sonny!
