Specialization Overview

A 30-credit-hour degree program that emphasizes interdisciplinary frameworks for understanding 
contemporary questions of educational policy and practice in elementary, secondary, and 
postsecondary settings. Involves the study of education as a social and cultural institution viewed 
through the lenses of various disciplines like history, philosophy, and sociology. Social Foundations 
inquiry helps to sharpen students’ capacities to understand, analyze, and explain educational issues, 
policies, and practices in order to improve education.
